Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of a smartphone application designed to help people with substance use and behavioral addictions manage cravings and individual triggers for addictive behavior. This project builds on research from the University of Bordeaux, focusing on personalized intervention to reduce or stop substance use and addictive behaviors. The app is intended for people with various types of addictions and also assesses the risk of addiction transfers by monitoring concurrent substance use and behaviors. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group uses the full version of the smartphone app for four weeks, which combines Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) with Ecological Momentary Intervention (EMI) to target cravings and risky personal situations. The other group uses a restricted version of the app for four weeks, which only includes EMA through four daily electronic questionnaires evaluating their main problematic substance use or addictive behavior. During the study, participants will be monitored for changes in their main addictive behavior over four weeks. Researchers will also assess addiction severity, craving levels, and usage patterns using questionnaires and daily app responses. Follow-up evaluations will happen at one and four months to measure the app's impact, feasibility, and acceptability. The total participation includes the four-week app usage period plus follow-up assessments, with safety monitored throughout the study.

Duration - 4 weeks
Participants use the smartphone application for 4 weeks to manage craving and individual predictors of substance use or addictive behavior. The experimental group uses the full app combining assessments and interventions, while the control group uses a restricted version for assessments only.
Daily electronic questionnaire responses via smartphone app
Duration - Up to 4 months after treatment
Participants are followed up to assess addiction severity, craving, app acceptability, feasibility, and impact on subsequent treatment.
