Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Men and women aged between 21 and 65 years old
- Body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2 or higher
- HOMA-IR value of 2.14 or higher (calculated from fasting insulin and glucose levels)
- No weight control treatments or medical/drug history in the last 3 months
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of diabetes mellitus
- Use of drugs affecting insulin sensitivity
- Weight change greater than 10% in the past 6 months
- Endocrine diseases such as thyroid, pituitary, or sex gland disorders
- Heart diseases including arrhythmia, heart failure, myocardial infarction, or having a pacemaker
- Allergy or immunology diseases
- Bleeding disorders
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Impaired liver or kidney function
- History of stroke or inability to exercise
