Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 6521 years
- Smoke at least 5 cigarettes per day for 1 year or more
- Daily combustible cigarette smoker
- Willing to switch to electronic cigarettes
- Exhaled carbon monoxide level of 6 ppm or higher
- Diagnosed with opioid use disorder
- Stable on buprenorphine treatment
- In good physical and mental health
- Able to use a smartphone
- Willing to participate in all study components
- Able to provide informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Interested in quitting combustible cigarettes (contemplation stage of change)
- Used electronic cigarettes on 4 or fewer days in the past 30 days
- Used other tobacco products (e.g., cigars, smokeless tobacco) on 9 or more days in the past 30 days
- Used nicotine replacement therapy, smoking cessation medication, or made a cessation attempt in the past 30 days
- Have hypertension
- Have any medical condition that contraindicates participation
- Meet DSM-V criteria for major depressive episode, psychotic episode, or manic episode
- Current suicidal ideation or suicide attempt in the past year
- Psychiatric hospitalization in the past year
- Contemplating pregnancy, currently pregnant, or breastfeeding
- Unable to speak and/or read English
