Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Postmenopausal
- Bone mineral density (BMD) t-score is between 0.5 and 2 standard deviations below the mean
- Not on hormone replacement therapy or other medications known to affect bone for at least three months prior to study start
You will not qualify if you...
- Bone mineral density (BMD) t-score below 2.5 standard deviations of the mean at any site
- Receiving endocrine drugs (e.g., prednisone, glucocorticoids) or neuroactive drugs (e.g., dilantin, phenobarbital) or any drugs known to affect bone and calcium metabolism
- Smoking cigarettes or vaping
- Regular consumption of dried plums or prune juice
