Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Postmenopausal
  • Bone mineral density (BMD) t-score is between 0.5 and 2 standard deviations below the mean
  • Not on hormone replacement therapy or other medications known to affect bone for at least three months prior to study start
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Bone mineral density (BMD) t-score below 2.5 standard deviations of the mean at any site
  • Receiving endocrine drugs (e.g., prednisone, glucocorticoids) or neuroactive drugs (e.g., dilantin, phenobarbital) or any drugs known to affect bone and calcium metabolism
  • Smoking cigarettes or vaping
  • Regular consumption of dried plums or prune juice
