What this Trial Is About
This research investigates the connection between altered tubulo-interstitial metabolism and how quickly kidney function worsens in various kidney diseases. It compares patients with ANCA vasculitis and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis characterized by crescent formation to six other groups of patients with different kidney conditions, including extramembranous glomerulonephritis, minimal change nephropathy, interstitial nephropathy, IgA mesangial glomerulopathy, diabetic nephropathy, and collapsing focal segmental hyalinosis. Participants include those diagnosed through kidney biopsy with ANCA vasculitis marked by anti-proteinase 3 or anti-myeloperoxidase antibodies, as well as control groups with other specified kidney diseases confirmed by biopsy. The study observes these groups without interventions, focusing on natural disease progression and metabolic changes over time. Throughout the study, participants undergo assessments including spatial lipidomics, co-staining of kidney tubular markers, immunofluorescence and spatial transcriptomics for PPAR-gamma, and various analyses such as lipidomic, metabolomic, and transcriptomic tests. Kidney function measures like glomerular filtration rate and proteinuria are monitored over one year. Baseline evaluations include fibrosis quantification, capillary density, and immune cell markers. Safety and health data such as blood counts, heart rate, and blood pressure are also recorded, with follow-up continuing until one year after enrollment.
