Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosed with sepsis according to Sepsis 3.0 criteria
- Estimated hospital stay longer than 24 hours
- Aged between 18 and 89 years
- Presence of acute brain dysfunction such as delirium, coma, epilepsy, or focal neurological deficit
- Patients meeting non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria
You will not qualify if you...
- History of brain injury before admission, including Alzheimer's disease and craniocerebral injury
- Primary brain injury like cerebral hemorrhage or infarction, and secondary brain injury including liver brain, lung brain, uremia encephalopathy, pancreatic encephalopathy, metabolic encephalopathy, Wake encephalopathy
- Pregnant or lactating women
- Underwent bypass surgery within the past 3 months
- Hearing or vision impairment
- Mental illness or melanoma
- Abnormal blood clotting or active bleeding
- Infection at lumbar puncture site
- Diagnosis of meningeal leukemia
- Presence of other types of encephalopathy
