Comparing Sodium Hypochlorite Use With Resin Infiltration to Treat Molar Incisor Hypomineralization Opacities on Incisors

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of using resin infiltration with and without sodium hypochlorite to manage opacities caused by Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation MIH on permanent incisors. The study aims to compare how well the treatments improve the appearance of the affected teeth and to assess parents satisfaction with each treatment method. Participants teeth will be randomly assigned to either a test group or a control group. The test group will receive sodium hypochlorite 5.25% applied with a cotton wad before treatment and after the first two etching cycles, followed by resin infiltration using ICON products. The control group will follow the same procedure but without sodium hypochlorite. The treatments involve cycles of etching and application of resin infiltrant according to the manufacturers instructions. During the study, researchers will measure the masking effectiveness of the treatments on day 1 and again 7 to 10 days later using color analysis software to compare the opacity with adjacent enamel. They will also evaluate the percentage of the opacity infiltrated. Additionally, parents satisfaction with the treatment results will be assessed using a Likert scale at the same time points. The study is randomized and unblinded, with a total participation period spanning these initial assessments.
