Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age less than 18 years old
  • Clinical diagnosis of head trauma with Glasgow Coma Scale score less than or equal to 13
  • Presence of intracranial hemorrhage confirmed by cranial CT scan
  • Admission to hospital within 3 hours of injury
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Known pregnancy
  • Cardiac arrest prior to randomization
  • Glasgow Coma Scale score of 3 with unresponsive pupils on both sides
  • Known bleeding or clotting disorders
  • Known seizure disorders
  • Severe kidney impairment
  • Unknown time of injury
  • Prior use of tranexamic acid for current injury
  • Known venous or arterial blood clots
