What this Trial Is About
This research aims to develop and validate an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platform for the automated diagnosis and precise staging of two common musculoskeletal conditions: Osteoporosis (OP) and Osteoarthritis (OA). It addresses the challenges of traditional manual diagnosis, which can vary between observers, by integrating diverse clinical imaging and patient data to provide a more objective and standardized assessment of bone and joint health. The study includes both retrospective and prospective data from adults aged 18 to 90, emphasizing early detection and consistent care. The study uses retrospective data from about 1,500 patients collected between 2005 and 2025, and will recruit at least 500 new participants from December 2025 onward for external validation. It combines multiple imaging methods—including X-ray, CT, and MRI—with clinical and laboratory data to train and test AI models. These models classify bone density stages for osteoporosis and assess joint degeneration severity for osteoarthritis using established clinical scales. The study is observational and involves no interventions, focusing on data analysis and AI model development. Participants contribute existing imaging and clinical information, which is anonymized and securely stored. Researchers will assess the AI's diagnostic accuracy and track long-term outcomes like fracture incidence and functional scores over follow-up periods of 6, 12, 24, and 36 months. The study follows strict ethical guidelines to protect privacy and ensure data safety. The overall participation period varies by patient data availability but includes comprehensive evaluation and monitoring phases.
