Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Children between 0-18 years of age
- Patients classified as ASA I-II
You will not qualify if you...
- Patients over 18 years of age
- Patients classified as ASA III and above
- Patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction
- Patients unable to assume lateral decubitus position for gastric ultrasound
- Patients with previous lower esophageal or gastric surgery
- Patients not following institutional fasting guidelines
- Patients with systemic diseases affecting gastric emptying
- Patients with BMI greater than 40 kg/m2
- Patients with gastroesophageal reflux or aspiration risk factors
- Emergency cases with delayed gastric emptying despite appropriate fasting time
