Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adult patients 18 years or older
- Diagnosed with hypotonic hyponatremia
- Glucose-corrected plasma sodium less than 130 mmol/l
- Serum osmolality less than 280 mosmol/kg or no signs of non-hypotonic hyponatremia
You will not qualify if you...
- Signs of extracellular volume expansion
- Liver cirrhosis with severe liver damage (AST/ALT greater than 3 times upper limit, AP greater than 6 times upper limit, Bilirubin 3 mg/dl or higher)
- Heart failure
- On dialysis or have oliguric renal impairment with plasma creatinine 3 mg/dl or higher
- History of organ transplantation
