Examining Heavy Metal Exposure and Respiratory Health in Young Adult Electronic Cigarette Users
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Aged 18-29 years
- Established electronic cigarette user (uses ECs on at least 5 days in past 30 days) for the past 3 months
- Willing to abstain from nicotine for at least 12 hours before the laboratory visit
- Willing to not eat food or drink water/beverages for at least 30 minutes before the laboratory visit
- Use 4th generation electronic cigarette products (pod-mod or disposable, e.g., JUUL, Hyde)
- Must be able to read and write in English
You will not qualify if you...
- Tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 30 days or hospitalized for COVID-19 within the past 6 months
- Currently trying to quit electronic cigarette use
- Pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding (verified by urine pregnancy test)
- Severe or significant psychological or psychiatric conditions not currently treated
- History of cardiac events or distress within the past 3 months
- Diagnosed with chronic serious lung disease or current lung infection (e.g., pneumonia, pulmonary edema)
- Deaf, hard of hearing, or have a severe motor disability
