What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating how hybrid-type high-intensity interval training during winter affects vitamin D metabolism in adults with overweight or obesity. This study addresses the higher prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in this group, possibly caused by vitamin D being trapped in fat tissue due to impaired fat breakdown. Exercise may help release vitamin D from fat, so this research aims to explore this effect in adults aged 35 to 50 years. Thirty adults with overweight or obesity will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The Exercise group will participate in three hybrid-type high-intensity interval training sessions each week for 12 weeks while following a balanced diet. The Control group will also receive a balanced diet but will not engage in any exercise training during this period. Both groups will be monitored regularly to assess changes in vitamin D levels and other health markers. Participants will provide resting blood samples and undergo body composition assessments at the start, midpoint (6 weeks), and end (12 weeks) of the study. Researchers will also track daily dietary intake and physical activity levels. Key measurements include changes in vitamin D and related proteins, calcium, liver enzymes, and antioxidants. This comprehensive monitoring will help understand how exercise influences vitamin D metabolism in adults with overweight or obesity over the 12-week period.
