Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Symptoms in the case group include tinnitus, ear fullness or blockage, itching, ear pain, discharge, and hearing loss
- Physical examination shows hyphae, scabs, secretions, masses, pus, red skin, erosion, swelling, or granulation in the ear canal
- Laboratory fungal cultures must be positive for the case group
- Control group members do not have these ear symptoms and have not sought medical care for ear symptoms
You will not qualify if you...
- Patients with otitis media
- Patients with tympanic membrane perforation
- Patients who have had radiotherapy
