What this Trial Is About

Researchers are exploring a new approach to help cancer patients who smoke quit smoking by combining three types of support: tobacco addiction treatment, music therapy, and educational guidance. This approach aims to reduce smoking, manage emotions and reward responses through music, and encourage healthy habits. The study focuses on patients with cancer who smoke daily and wish to start a smoking cessation program. The treatment involves working closely with a tobacco addiction nurse alongside personalized music therapy sessions. Patients collaborate with a music therapist to create a unique soundtrack that fits their tastes and helps manage withdrawal symptoms. These sessions occur on day 1, day 7, day 15, day 30, month 2, month 3, and month 6, with patients encouraged to use the soundtrack independently in their daily lives to support quitting smoking. During the study, participants will attend supervised sessions combining nursing consultations and music therapy, with researchers tracking adherence to these sessions over six months. They will assess tobacco use, withdrawal symptoms, cravings, motivation, confidence, personal competence, and symptoms of anxiety and depression at the start, three months, and six months. The study also monitors how often patients use their personalized music soundtrack independently during the program.
