Researchers are evaluating the outcomes of patients with gastric cancer who undergo surgery with curative intent before and after the creation of a Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (MTB) at Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli. This observational study compares surgical and oncologic results, focusing on whether the MTB has improved the quality of care and patient outcomes by reviewing cases weekly in a team setting. The study covers patients treated from January 2018 to the present, with the MTB established in November 2019. The study groups include patients treated before the MTB was established (January 2018 to November 2019) and those treated afterward (December 2019 onward). Data collection involves reviewing clinical, pathological, surgical, and oncological information for patients with gastric adenocarcinoma who are surgical candidates with curative intent. The MTB's influence on treatment allocation, timing from diagnosis to treatment, and overall adherence to tumor board recommendations is assessed. Participants' medical records will be analyzed for outcomes such as Textbook Outcome (TO), Textbook Oncological Outcome (TOO), time from diagnosis to first treatment (TTT), patient-to-treatment allocation (PTA), and tumor board adherence (TBA). These measures help evaluate the effectiveness of the MTB in improving patient care. The study collects data retrospectively up to February 2024, aiming to detect improvements in surgical and oncological results over time.
