Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age between 65 and 85 years
- ASA physical status classification I to III
- Scheduled for cataract surgery with general anesthesia
You will not qualify if you...
- History of cerebrovascular disease
- Mental retardation or psychiatric illness
- Pulmonary infection or advanced COPD or respiratory failure
- Ejection fraction less than 40%
- Existing cardiovascular disease
- Bleeding disorders
- Kidney or liver failure
- Diabetes mellitus or current use of diuretics or mannitol
- Substance abuse
- Body mass index (BMI) over 30
