Long-term Follow-up on Health and Work Ability After Inpatient Treatment for Stress-related Disorders in the HARMODI Cohort

This research investigates long-term health and work ability in people who have undergone inpatient treatment for stress-related disorders like depression, adjustment disorder, and burnout syndrome. The study focuses on how these factors develop over three years after discharge and aims to identify what influences returning to work and maintaining work ability. It follows former patients from the HARMODI study to gain insights that could improve treatment and public health policies. Participants are former inpatients treated at Clinica Holistica Engiadina for stress-related conditions who took part in the HARMODI study. They will complete online questionnaires up to three years after their discharge, reporting on their current work ability, mental and physical health, and return-to-work experiences. The study also uses previous clinical data like cardiorespiratory fitness, heart rate variability, and cognitive function collected after treatment to explore links with work outcomes. During the study, participants provide self-reported information through online surveys about their work ability, symptom burden, sleep quality, physical activity, and resilience. Researchers track the time from discharge until participants return to work either partially or fully, with follow-up extending up to 40 months. The study is observational, with no interventions, and all former HARMODI participants who did not withdraw consent will be invited to participate. The total follow-up period lasts up to three years after discharge.
