Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Alcohol dependence according to ICD-10 (F10.2)
- Desire to reduce or abstain from alcohol drinking
- Male or female
- Age between 18 and 65 years
- Residency in Germany and German speaking
- Written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Contraindications for transcranial magnetic stimulation such as electric devices or metal parts in the body (e.g., pacemaker)
- Relevant neurological or internal diseases as judged by the study investigator
- Previous treatment with transcranial magnetic stimulation
- Participation in other clinical trials during treatment
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Positive breath test for alcohol
- Legal care or placement in a psychiatric hospital
- Use of disulfiram, acamprosate, topiramate, baclofen, naltrexone, or nalmefene
- Acute psychiatric conditions requiring inpatient treatment or medication changes within the last month
- Severe chronic psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder
- Inability to complete study or follow-up questionnaires as judged by investigators
