What this Trial Is About

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a major health concern in Bangladesh, with high rates of occurrence and death. This study focuses on investigating the prevalence and risk factors of HPV-associated HNSCC, especially considering the influence of food habits and biological mechanisms in the Bangladeshi population. Researchers aim to identify genomic changes linked to this cancer type and understand the role of HPV, particularly types 16 and 18, in its development. The study involves analyzing HNSCC tissue samples confirmed by histopathology. Molecular techniques such as Real-Time PCR will be used to detect HPV presence and typing, followed by immunohistochemistry to study protein expressions in both HPV-positive and HPV-negative samples. Comprehensive genetic analysis through sequencing will be conducted to explore mutations and gene expression changes related to the disease. Participants will provide tissue samples that undergo multiple laboratory assessments including histopathology, molecular screening, and protein expression analysis. Researchers will collect patient history data and perform detailed genetic studies to understand the factors contributing to HNSCC. The main outcome measured is HPV positivity in tissue samples over a two-year period, with findings expected to support targeted prevention strategies like HPV vaccination and public health education.
