What this Trial Is About
This study will critically examine the feasibility, safety and efficacy of HBOT during inpatient rehabilitation (IPR) after acute ischemic stroke measured by non-disruption of 3 hours of daily therapy, frequency of neurological deterioration or complications (seizure, hemorrhage, brain edema), and functional communication, activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 years and above
- Ischemic stroke confirmed by neuroimaging
- Stroke occurred 7 to 30 days before starting treatment
- Admitted to Touro Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility
You will not qualify if you...
- Modified Rankin Scale score greater than 2 before stroke
- Presence of parenchymal hemorrhagic transformation (PH1 or PH2)
- Receptive aphasia preventing following barotrauma prevention measures
- History of recurrent and unprovoked seizures requiring management changes in the past 3 months
- Pulmonary disease needing supplemental oxygen or daily respiratory medications such as inhalers, nebulizers, or steroids
