Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 years or older and able to provide written informed consent
- Fluent in English to complete patient-reported outcomes and neurocognitive assessments
- Pathologic or cytologic confirmation of cancer diagnosis
- Poorly controlled nociceptive or mixed cancer pain limiting function or quality of life despite standard pain treatments
- Consultation and two follow-up visits with pain specialists confirming refractory pain
- Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status between 0 and 3
- Life expectancy greater than 4 weeks and less than 1 year as judged by treating physician
You will not qualify if you...
- Prior cranial or head/neck radiation preventing safe radiation dose limits
- Unable to undergo brain MRI due to incompatible implants, embedded metal fragments, or occupational exposure
- Pain caused by depression, delirium, or addictive behavior
- Pregnancy
- Known psychiatric or substance abuse disorders interfering with study participation as judged by investigators
