What this Trial Is About
Researchers are exploring the use of advanced MRI and CT imaging techniques to improve radiation therapy planning and tumor response assessment for patients undergoing radiation treatment. This observational study aims to demonstrate the feasibility of new imaging hardware, pulse sequences, and data analysis software, focusing on integrating these technologies into routine clinical use. The study emphasizes the importance of ongoing development to enhance MRI or CT applications in radiation oncology, including evaluating devices like the MR-Linac, which combines radiation treatment with diagnostic MRI scanning. Participants may undergo one or more research MRI or CT exams lasting up to 45 minutes each. These imaging sessions are conducted periodically during treatment and follow-up to study tumor response or reproducibility in volunteers. The study uses only FDA-approved hardware and tests modifications such as pulse sequence programs, radiofrequency coils, and imaging software. Participation will not change current treatment plans, allowing researchers to gather imaging data for research and future patient care improvements. During the study, participants will have MRI or CT scans as part of their radiation therapy or as volunteers for reproducibility studies. Researchers will evaluate the feasibility of new MRI or CT applications over a five-year period. Safety measures are in place to minimize risks related to imaging hardware modifications. Participants will be monitored for their ability to complete imaging exams, and the study includes volunteers as well as patients undergoing radiation therapy. The total involvement duration varies depending on individual treatment and follow-up schedules.
