Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Participants must be 18 to 45 years old
  • Current e-cigarette use of nicotine at least 5 days per week for the past year with no cigarette smoking or cannabis use in the past 30 days
  • Current e-cigarette use of cannabis at least 5 days per week for the past year with no cigarette smoking or nicotine use in the past 30 days
  • Current cigarette smoking of at least 5 cigarettes per day, 4 days per week for the past year with no e-cigarette use in the past 30 days
  • Current dual use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes (cannabis and/or nicotine) at least 5 days per week for the past year
  • Non-smokers with less than 100 lifetime cigarettes, e-cigarette uses, and cannabis uses
  • Willingness to provide informed consent and participate according to guidelines
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Females who are pregnant or breastfeeding at screening
  • Current untreated or unstable substance use disorder except nicotine or cannabis use disorder
  • Positive urine drug screen for opiates, methamphetamine, or cocaine at screening
  • Current unstable or untreated major depression or psychotic disorder
  • Use of inhaled or oral corticosteroids or anti-inflammatory medications
  • History of lung trauma
  • Active or recent (within 4 weeks) lung infection or lung disease affecting tracer uptake
  • Inability to tolerate imaging procedures as determined by investigator
  • Any medical condition that could compromise safety or study participation per physician assessment
