Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age between 18-35 or 60-85 years
  • Ability to sign informed consent
  • Living independently before study admission
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • History of cardiovascular disease such as heart failure or coronary artery disease
  • History of endocrine or metabolic diseases like thyroid problems or diabetes
  • History of kidney disease or failure
  • Presence of vascular disease or risk of deep vein thrombosis
  • Use of anticoagulant medications
  • Elevated blood pressure above 150/100 mmHg
  • Implanted electronic devices like pacemakers
  • Cancer diagnosed or treated within the last year, except basal cell carcinoma
  • Currently following a weight-loss diet
  • Recent or ongoing corticosteroid use for 2 weeks or more
  • Use of androgens or growth hormone within 6 months
  • History of stroke with motor disability
  • Recent gastrointestinal bleeding within 12 months
  • History of liver or respiratory diseases
  • Pregnancy confirmed by test
  • Employment as staff reporting directly or indirectly to the investigator
  • Any other condition deemed exclusionary by the principal investigator or faculty physician

Screening

Baseline Assessment
