Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Female aged over 18 years
- Histological or cytological confirmation of breast cancer
- Availability or planned availability of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tumor blocks or unstained slides after biopsy
- Willingness to provide fresh and/or fresh frozen tissue during biopsy, surgery, or metastasis biopsy for research
- Any clinical stage of breast cancer allowed
- Written informed consent obtained before study procedures
- Women treated at UCH, VVMC, or SCC may be pregnant
- Women who have started or completed breast cancer treatment may join for retrospective tissue donation
- Women receiving care outside UCH, VVMC, or SCC may join with phone or online consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Significant autoimmune conditions such as Lupus, Crohn's disease, or Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Chronic oral steroid use or systemic immunomodulatory prescription drug use
- Comorbid conditions significantly impacting immune function like type I diabetes, uncontrolled diabetes, severe COPD, uncontrolled infection, or known HIV infection
- Psychiatric conditions precluding compliance with study requirements
- History of other malignancies diagnosed and treated within the last 5 years, except cervical cancer treated more than 2 years ago or non-melanomatous skin cancer
