Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Able to give written informed consent
- Aged between 18 and 50 years
- Have a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 29.9 Kg/m2
- Be generally healthy as determined by the investigator
You will not qualify if you...
- Younger than 18 or older than 50 years
- BMI below 18.5 or above 29.9 Kg/m2
- Have significant acute or chronic illnesses including cardiovascular, gastrointestinal (such as functional GI disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, food allergies), immunological, psychiatric (including major depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, other DSM-IV Axis I disorders), neurodevelopmental, metabolic (including diabetes type I or II), or any condition that contraindicates study entry
- Taking medications or having conditions that may interfere with study objectives or pose safety risks, including psychoactive medications, laxatives, enemas, antibiotics, anticoagulants, over-the-counter NSAIDs, with required 4-week washout
- Currently using prebiotic or probiotic supplements without 4-week washout
- Females who are peri-menopausal, menopausal, or post-menopausal
- Pregnant, planning pregnancy, or lactating females
- Not fluent in English
- Color blind
- Have dyslexia or dyscalculia
- Current habitual daily smoker
- Considered unlikely to comply with the study by the investigator
- Receiving treatment with experimental drugs or recently completed experimental trials within 30 days
- Have malignant disease or end-stage organ disease
- Participated in a laboratory study at this site within the past 4 years
