Evaluating the Effect of Interprofessional Education on Healthcare Students Collaboration Skills During Clinical Placements in Multidisciplinary Primary Care Centres

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to assess the impact of an interprofessional education program IPEP on healthcare students collaboration skills during their clinical placements in multidisciplinary primary care centers MPCC. The study compares students who receive IPEP during their MPCC placements with those who undergo placements without this program. The IPEP is delivered by trained healthcare professionals within the MPCCs to enhance interprofessional collaboration IPC. The study involves two groups an intervention group where 12 MPCCs participate, each having 3 professionals trained to implement the IPEP for students and a control group of 12 MPCCs where students complete their clinical placements as usual without the IPEP. The trained professionals receive instruction through a train the trainer program led by an educational team before delivering the IPEP. Participants will be observed during their clinical placements, with assessments comparing student scores on the Interprofessional Collaborative Competency Attainment Survey ICCAS before and after placement. Qualitative studies will explore students perceptions and feelings about interprofessional collaboration in both groups. The study duration includes 18 months for quantitative assessments and 24 months for qualitative components.
