Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Healthy adult men and women
- Aged 18 to 45 years
- Body mass index (BMI) less than 25 kg/m�b2 (normal weight) or 30 kg/m�b2 or higher (obesity group)
- Non-pregnant, non-breastfeeding, and do not use nicotine
- Self-reported normal sleep duration of 7 to 9 hours per night
- Bedtime prior to midnight
- Premenopausal women
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of any acute or chronic medical conditions
- Taking medications known to affect sleep, autonomic, metabolic, or cardiovascular function
- Self-reported irregular sleep patterns
- History of liver, kidney, lung, cardiovascular, neurological diseases, stroke, neurovascular disease, bleeding or clotting disorders
- Diagnosed with sleep apnea or other sleep disorders
- Diabetes diagnosis
- History of alcoholism or substance abuse
- Major cardiovascular event or surgery within the past three months
- Hypertension
