What this Trial Is About

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) affect many adults over 40 and significantly impact quality of life and health costs. Uroflowmetry (UFM) is a common, non-invasive test used to assess these symptoms, but it can cause anxiety and affect patient satisfaction. This research compares the effects of structured education versus verbal counseling on anxiety and satisfaction in patients undergoing UFM, aiming to improve patient comfort and test accuracy. Participants are randomly assigned to either a structured education group, which receives a brochure and video tutorial, or a verbal counseling group as per usual care. Both groups receive their respective education before undergoing UFM. The study uses a parallel-arm, single-blind design to compare anxiety levels measured by a modified anxiety scale and satisfaction assessed by a patient questionnaire immediately after the procedure. During the study, patients complete questionnaires on demographics, anxiety, and satisfaction before and after UFM. Researchers analyze these measures to understand how education type affects psychological comfort and test outcomes. The study includes safety monitoring, with referrals offered if anxiety is detected. Data is collected securely, and the study aims to enroll 48 patients, with all assessments taking about 20-25 minutes per participant.
