Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Be at least 18 years old
- Meet DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for cockroach phobia (specific phobia, animal subtype)
- Have had the phobia for at least six months
- Provide signed informed consent
- Score at least 4 on fear and avoidance scales of the diagnostic interview
You will not qualify if you...
- Have another severe mental disorder requiring immediate attention
- Have current alcohol or drug dependence or abuse, psychosis, or severe organic illness
- Currently be in a similar treatment program
- Be able to insert hands into a plastic container with a cockroach during the behavioral test
- Receive other psychological treatment for cockroach phobia during the study
- Start or change pharmacological treatment during the study
