AI-Summary
What this Trial Is About
Mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder, affect over 350 million people worldwide. Finding the right treatment for each individual is often challenging and can lead to prolonged illness and reduced quality of life. Unlike other areas of medicine, mood disorders lack large standardized studies needed to identify biomarkers that could help diagnose and tailor treatments. The ENABLE platform aims to provide a standardized approach for collecting biomarker data from individuals with various mood disorder symptoms in Canada, creating a resource for future biomarker-based clinical trials. The ENABLE platform offers a tiered assessment system. At tier 1, participants complete clinical assessments including clinician-led interviews and self-report questionnaires. Tier 2 involves optional measures such as blood sample collection, neuroimaging procedures like MRI and EEG, and wearing an actigraphy device for two weeks to monitor activity. Participants may also consent to be contacted for future clinical trials associated with the platform. Participants are involved in detailed clinical and neurobiological evaluations, providing data through assessments, biological samples, and device monitoring. Researchers will track the rate of participation in the platform until March 31, 2026. This platform also serves as a recruitment pool for new clinical trials and offers open-source data for research and grant applications. Overall participation length varies, and participants contribute valuable data to advance mood disorder research.
