Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Aged 18 to 75 years
  • Diagnosis of major depressive disorder based on the Diagnostic Statistical Manual 5
  • 21-item Hamilton Depression Scale score greater than 17
  • No changes in current psychiatric treatment for depression within the past four weeks
  • Ability to understand study details and provide written informed consent
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Clinical Global Impression Scale-Severity scores of 5 (Markedly ill), 6 (Severely ill), or 7 (Among the most extremely ill)
  • Diagnosis of psychotic disorders, bipolar affective disorder, or substance use disorders within the past 6 months
  • Active suicidal or homicidal ideation or a 21-item Hamilton Depression Scale score greater than 3
  • Unstable or active medical illness
