Internal Jugular Vein Ultrasound for Volume Status Assessment in Haemodialysis

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the accuracy of Internal Jugular Vein Point-of-Care ultrasound to assess volume status in people undergoing chronic haemodialysis. The study is observational and aims to understand how well this ultrasound method works for monitoring fluid levels in these patients. The study is sponsored by the University of Bologna and focuses on improving volume assessment in haemodialysis care. Participants in this study will undergo Internal Jugular Vein ultrasound as part of volume status evaluation during their chronic haemodialysis treatment. There are no specific treatment interventions or comparator groups since this is an observational study. The study will observe patients from the time of enrollment and continue monitoring for adverse events up to one month after the evaluation. During the study, participants will be monitored for any adverse events related to the ultrasound evaluation and haemodialysis treatment. The main outcome measured is the occurrence of adverse events from enrollment until one month after the ultrasound assessment. Participants will provide informed consent and be followed as part of routine haemodialysis care, with study observations integrated into their clinical monitoring.
