Age: 18Years - 80Years

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • BMI of <35 kg/m2
  • Scheduled for elective abdominal laparotomy or laparoscopy under general anesthesia with expected surgical time longer than 2 hours
  • ASA physical status classification I or II
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Patients undergoing minor procedures with expected surgery duration less than 1 hour
  • Emergency surgeries for bowel obstruction
  • Abdominal surgery for vascular or plastic reasons
  • Recent history of fever
  • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
  • Known immunological dysfunction, including use of steroids, decompensated liver disease, or HIV
