Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 to 75 years, any gender
- Elective heart surgery planned
- Scheduled for mitral and/or aortic valve replacement or repair surgery requiring extracorporeal circulation and aortic occlusion
- New York Heart Association class less than 4
- Voluntarily signed informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Non-cardiac surgery
- Second heart surgery
- Interventional heart valve surgery such as TAVI or mitral clamp
- Patient refuses participation
- Pregnant women
- History of lung surgery
- Acute kidney injury requiring dialysis
- Chronic renal insufficiency stage III or higher
- Intubated before arriving at the operating room
- Existing pulmonary complications (respiratory infection, pneumonia, pleural effusion, respiratory failure, atelectasis, pneumothorax, bronchospasm, ARDS)
- Neuropsychiatric disease or cognitive impairment before surgery
- Drug users or long-term use of antipsychotic drugs
- Contraindications to esketamine including serious risks of elevated blood pressure or intracranial pressure, high intraocular pressure or eye trauma, poorly controlled hypertension (resting systolic >180 mmHg or diastolic >100 mmHg), untreated or undertreated hyperthyroidism
- Liver function ALT or AST greater than twice normal
