What this Trial Is About
This research aims to find out if Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV) can improve lung compliance in children who are receiving standard invasive mechanical ventilation. It focuses on children up to 18 years old, including those with Pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (PARDS), and studies how well their lungs respond to IPV over short periods. The study will also look at different levels of PARDS severity and track any side effects from this therapy. Participants will be children already receiving IPV as part of their usual care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where their medical team has determined IPV could help their lung recovery. This study does not change the treatment; it only observes and collects data from the children's medical records and bedside monitoring before and after IPV treatment to evaluate lung function. During the study, researchers will collect health information including lung compliance measurements at baseline, 15 minutes, and 3 hours after IPV treatment. This includes data from ventilators and monitors to assess lung function changes and any adverse effects. Participation involves no extra procedures beyond the routine care and monitoring already in place, and the study collects data solely for research to better understand IPV's effects in critically ill pediatric patients.

Your Study Journey
Duration - 2 to 4 weeks
Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial.
Duration - Single observation period during ventilation treatment
Participants who undergo routine care are observed while receiving conventional intermittent mandatory ventilation and Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV). Measurements of lung compliance are collected before and after IPV treatment.
