Age: 18Years +
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Wound repair within 18 hours of injury
  • Repair performed by an emergency room physician or trainee
  • Clean and simple lacerations with no gross contamination as assessed by the treating physician
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Pregnant patients
  • Lacerations involving tendons, muscles, fascias, or joints
  • Lacerations located on the ear, nose, or distal to metacarpophalangeal or metatarsophalangeal joints
  • Immunosuppressed individuals (neutropenia, chronic corticosteroid use, HIV, or immunosuppressive therapy within 3 months)
  • Bite wounds
  • Lacerations with any tissue loss
  • Lacerations containing foreign bodies
  • Complex lacerations such as crush or stellate wounds
  • Grossly contaminated lacerations
