The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of performing remote limb ischemic conditioning (RLIC) using the Doctormate device, a special blood pressure device used to perform RLIC, on patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion being transported to a thrombectomy capable center by the helicopter.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 to 80 years
- Suspected acute ischemic stroke with symptoms suggesting large vessel occlusion such as aphasia, agnosia, neglect, visual field cut, or gaze preference
- Patient screened for rtPA and received rtPA if eligible
- Subject or legally authorized representative able to give consent at assessment
- NIH Stroke Scale score between 6 and 20
You will not qualify if you...
- Any intracranial hemorrhage seen on CT scan at community hospital
- History of ischemia or blood vessel problems in arms or legs that prevent blood pressure cuff use, including stenosis, subclavian steal syndrome, soft tissue, orthopedic or vascular injury, or mastectomy
- History of diabetes mellitus
- Participation in another clinical trial
- Patient is incarcerated
- Pregnancy; patients aged 18-55 must have a negative pregnancy test
- Unsafe agitation for ischemic preconditioning
- Presence of arteriovenous fistula in upper limb
