Age: 18Years - 65Years
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 45 kg/m2
  • Men and women
  • Age between 18 and 65 years
  • Sedentary to moderately active (less than 2 hours per week of moderate, structured exercise)
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Smoking more than one pack of tobacco per week
  • Weight change greater than 5 pounds in the previous 3 months
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Previous bariatric surgery
  • History of eating disorder
  • Conditions such as type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, inflammatory disease, untreated thyroid disease, fluid overload states (including chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or cirrhosis)
  • Use of medications that may interfere with study outcomes (e.g., glucocorticoids, GLP-1 analogues, hormone replacement therapy)
  • Pre-menopausal women must have regular menstrual cycles (28 +/- 2 days) or be using hormonal contraceptives
  • Fasting glucose above 125 mg/dl or HbA1c above 6.4%
