KTRSensor Scotland Study: Investigating the Role of Biomarkers in Kidney Transplant Outcomes

This observational study focuses on patients in Scotland who have received kidney transplants, including those with or without pancreas or islet transplants. Researchers aim to identify clinical biomarkers found in urine that could help predict early rejection of the transplanted kidney and overall transplant outcomes. The study is designed to capture real-world data from post-operative transplant patients to improve understanding of these biomarkers' roles. Participants will be followed prospectively over time, attending routine follow-up appointments at their transplant center. No active treatments or interventions are administered, as this is an observational study. The study plans to monitor patients for at least 12 months to observe the occurrence of acute transplant rejection and other outcomes. During the study, patients will provide urine samples regularly and attend scheduled clinical assessments at their transplant center. Researchers will analyze these samples to detect biomarkers linked to transplant success or rejection. The main outcome measured is the number of participants experiencing acute transplant rejection within 12 months.
