Laboratory Study of Cancer & Immune Cells in Ascites Fluid of Ovarian Cancer Patients to Test Alternative Therapies
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Female participants undergoing cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer
- 18 years of age or older
- Suspected pathological diagnosis or clinical suspicion of ovarian cancer and scheduled for tumor resection surgery
- Able to understand and willing to sign informed consent
- Pathologic confirmation of epithelial adenocarcinoma of ovary, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer (serous, mucinous, clear cell, endometrioid, undifferentiated, mixed, transitional cell)
- Negative pregnancy test within 2 weeks prior to study entry for women of childbearing potential
- Women of childbearing potential defined as those who have not undergone hysterectomy or bilateral oophorectomy and have not been naturally postmenopausal for at least 12 months
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to provide informed consent themselves (e.g., mentally ill requiring proxy consent) or vulnerable populations such as prisoners
- Under 18 years of age
- Pregnant women
- Final pathology not confirming invasive epithelial ovarian, tubal, or primary peritoneal cancer
