Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Female aged 18 to 70 years with life expectancy greater than 5 years
- ECOG performance status of 0, 1, or 2
- Pathologically confirmed left breast cancer with breast-conserving surgery or modified radical mastectomy
- Planned radiation therapy to entire breast or chest wall with or without lymphatic drainage areas
- No prior neoadjuvant chemotherapy or breast reconstruction
- No active cardiac disease, myocardial infarction, or congestive heart failure at baseline
- Ability to hold breath for at least 30 seconds after training
- Willingness and ability to follow-up as planned
- Signed informed consent form
You will not qualify if you...
- Lesions present on both breasts
- Diagnosis not confirmed by pathology
- Presence of distant metastasis
- Prior neoadjuvant chemotherapy or breast reconstruction surgery
- Severe cardiac insufficiency or recent myocardial infarction, unstable arrhythmia, unstable angina, or pericardial disorders within 3 months
- New York Heart Association cardiac classification of 2 to 4
- History of chronic lung disease such as COPD or interstitial pneumonia
- Previous mediastinal radiotherapy
- Previous or concurrent second primary malignant tumor except certain specified types
- Requirement for irradiation of lymphatic drainage area of the internal breast
