This research focuses on people with neurological conditions who have movement disorders such as spasticity after spinal cord injury. It aims to develop a protocol using a fully wearable, portable lower-limb exoskeleton to improve leg and walking function by studying its effects on muscle activity, joint motion, and walking performance. The goal is to create an effective method to restore leg movement, range of motion, and gait ability, ultimately enhancing quality of life for those affected by neurological deficits. Participants will wear a lightweight robotic exoskeleton device that assists with leg motion and stretching. The study includes experiments involving leg stretching while sitting or lying down, followed by treadmill and overground walking sessions. The device applies forces to specific joints like the hip, knee, ankle, and toes, with movements repeated at a controlled rate. The study also evaluates the devices control algorithm for safe, precise limb stretching across different body positions and activities. During each visit, participants will undergo up to two hours of testing, including fitting the device, performing the movement protocols, and removing sensors. Data collected will include joint angles, 3D leg motion, muscle electrical activity, and device motor currents. Questionnaires will gather feedback on device ease of use and satisfaction from participants and caregivers. The study monitors outcomes such as 3D postures, joint angles, and angular velocities over about 24 weeks while ensuring safe and comfortable participation.
