Researchers are conducting a nationwide observational study in Korea to understand the long-term effects of tuberculosis (TB) on lung health and quality of life. This study will include adults currently being treated for pulmonary TB or those who have completed treatment. The goal is to fill the knowledge gap about post-TB lung disease by tracking health outcomes over time. Participants will be enrolled from six medical centers and followed for five years. Data collected will include demographic details, TB history, comorbidities, medications, lung symptoms, chest imaging, lung function tests, and quality of life questionnaires. Clinical imaging such as chest CT scans will only be used if done as part of routine care. No additional interventions or study-specific treatments are required. During the study, participants will have annual visits with assessments including symptom scoring, chest X-rays, spirometry, and quality of life measures. Laboratory tests like blood work and infection screenings will be done at the start. Researchers will analyze respiratory symptoms, lung imaging abnormalities, lung function, and quality of life changes over the follow-up period to understand the progression of post-TB lung disease and factors linked to poorer outcomes.
