Purpose of this study is to determine the value of liquid biopsies, e.g. testing of minimal residual disease (MRD) by using liquid biopsies to measure circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) at diagnosis and during the multimodal and multidisciplinary curative-intent treatment of resectable esophageal cancer.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Male or female, age > 18 years
- Newly diagnosed esophageal cancer confirmed as squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma
- Clinically staged cT1-4 N0-2 M0 (local or locally advanced, resectable disease)
- Eligible for multidisciplinary treatment as determined by a multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide informed consent following Good Clinical Practice and national/European regulations
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of metastatic or oligometastatic disease
- Diagnosis of another cancer type such as neuroendocrine carcinoma or lymphoma
- Having other active malignancies
- Prior chemoradiation treatment before multidisciplinary team assessment
- Planned treatment without surgery, such as neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone or definitive chemoradiation
