Actively Recruiting

Researchers are evaluating the safety and effectiveness of a subthreshold nanosecond laser (SNL) treatment for adults with non-resolving central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), a condition causing sub-retinal fluid that lasts more than three months. This is a prospective, multicenter, sham-controlled trial with two treatment groups to compare visual and anatomical outcomes. Adults aged 18 to 70 years with CSCR showing persistent fluid on optical coherence tomography (OCT) will participate. Participants will be randomly assigned in a 2:1 ratio to receive either the active 2RT Q-switched YAG laser treatment or a sham procedure that mimics the laser without delivering real treatment. The laser uses low-energy nanosecond pulses targeting specific retinal cells. The study includes five visits: screening, randomization with first treatment, 6-week follow-up with possible second treatment, and follow-ups at 12, 18, and 24 weeks. During the 24-week study, participants will undergo eye exams, OCT scans to monitor fluid resolution, and vision tests to assess changes. Researchers will measure the proportion of eyes showing fluid resolution and track any vision loss of 10 or more letters on a vision chart. Safety and treatment effects will be closely monitored throughout all visits to evaluate the impact of the laser compared to the sham procedure.
