Actively Recruiting

Stroke is a leading cause of physical disability, often resulting in significant impairments in walking ability and daily activities. This research investigates whether combining robotic-assisted gait training using the Lokomat® device with a novel vibrational stimulation device called Vibramoov® can improve walking patterns more than Lokomat® training alone. The study takes place at the Gröbming Rehabilitation Center with patients undergoing a four-week neurological inpatient rehabilitation program. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one will receive standard robotic-assisted gait training with the Lokomat®, while the other group will receive the same training combined with targeted vibratory stimulation from Vibramoov®. Both groups will have equal amounts of therapy. The Vibramoov® device aims to activate sensorimotor centers by stimulating muscle-tendon junctions through vibrations, potentially enhancing movement during walking. Throughout the study, researchers will measure walking ability using the 6-Minute Walk Test and analyze spatiotemporal gait parameters at the start and after four weeks of treatment. Additional functional scores, patient feedback, and blood biomarkers will also be collected. A follow-up interview six months after rehabilitation will assess quality of life and psychological health. Statistical tests will be used to compare outcomes between groups.
