This research investigates the Suicidal Crisis Intervention (SCI), a new short-term treatment designed to reduce suicidality in people who have experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. The study also aims to explore the effect of SCI on related factors such as hopelessness, defeat, entrapment, and interpersonal needs. The SCI was developed in Flanders to address the lack of specific evidence-based short-term treatments for this high-risk group. The SCI consists of four structured sessions that focus on understanding the suicidal crisis by relating it to the person's life history. It seeks to increase motivation for ongoing specialized care and involves the participation of close relatives to strengthen social support. Key elements of the intervention include a safety plan, person-centered care, and continuity of care, all delivered by care providers within a short time frame. Participants will be monitored for changes in suicidality using the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation at multiple points: 42, 132, and 222 days after randomization. The study includes assessments of related psychological factors and emphasizes the involvement of relatives. Participants must have internet access and be Dutch-speaking. The total duration and detailed follow-up procedures support evaluating both immediate and longer-term effects of the SCI.

Researchers are evaluating a multi-faceted program called the Integrated DEpression CAre (IDECA) Programme aimed at improving how depression is managed by both healthcare providers and patients. The study focuses on increasing adherence to care guidelines and promoting shared care practices across different levels of healthcare. This approach targets people with mild, moderate, or severe depression symptoms who seek help at a general practitioner's office. The intervention involves developing and implementing a shared care protocol that spans primary, secondary, and tertiary care. It includes training for physicians and care providers on population health management, adding case management functions to existing depression services, and providing patient education on self-managing depression. Additionally, a financing model to support integrated depression care will be created. The program is based on the World Health Organization's framework for integrated people-centered health services, which aims to empower communities, improve governance, reorient care models, coordinate services, and create supportive environments. Participants will be involved for at least 14 months, during which researchers will measure how well the intervention is integrated into care practices. The study monitors process and clinical outcomes related to depression management to assess the program's impact. People aged 18 to 65 presenting with depressive symptoms at a general practitioner's office can participate, except those with severe depression that requires specialist referral. The study seeks to identify which patients benefit most from this integrated care approach.

This research aims to evaluate how well physiotherapy sessions in Flemish nursing homes follow the IAGG-GARN guidelines. It focuses on understanding the variation in physiotherapy practices across different nursing homes in the provinces of Limburg, Antwerp, and Flemish Brabant. The study also explores factors that influence clinical practice among physiotherapists, including barriers and facilitators to using guideline-based care. The study involves observing physiotherapy sessions provided by licensed physiotherapists in these nursing homes as part of their routine care. Researchers will document the content and duration of therapy sessions using structured observation diaries. Additionally, physiotherapists will participate in focus groups to share their experiences with guideline implementation, challenges faced, and decision-making processes. Participants will be involved through direct observation of their therapy sessions and discussions in focus groups. The main outcome measured is how closely these sessions adhere to the IAGG-GARN recommendations, evaluated over a 2-week period. The study seeks to gather detailed information about current physiotherapy practices and the factors affecting them in nursing home settings.
