Researchers are establishing a standardized clinical database for patients with liver cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma and related types, to support high-quality real-world clinical studies. This observational study is led by the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China USTC in collaboration with multiple centers nationwide. The purpose is to collect detailed clinical information to better understand liver cancer outcomes over time. Participants will receive routine clinical treatments for liver cancer, such as surgical resection, ablation, transarterial chemoembolization TACE, hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy HAIC, and various anti-tumor drugs including immunologic, targeted, and chemotherapy agents. The study observes and records these standard treatments without assigning interventions. The research will track these patients in a cohort database to monitor their treatment and progression. During the study, participants will be followed for up to 10 years to assess overall survival, recurrence-free survival, and survival time after cancer recurrence. Researchers will collect blood and surgical tissue samples and perform regular follow-up visits to gather clinical data and pathology results. This long-term monitoring aims to provide comprehensive insights into liver cancer progression and treatment outcomes.

Researchers are conducting a large-scale observational study across multiple centers in China to better understand Post-Intensive Care Syndrome PICS in patients who have survived critical illness and intensive care. The study aims to describe the patterns and extent of physical, cognitive, and psychological impairments that persist after hospital discharge, which are collectively known as PICS. This research addresses the growing need for detailed information given the increasing number of ICU survivors and the variability in critical care practices across China. Participants in this study are ICU survivors transferred to high-dependency units HDUs in four centers. The study involves collecting extensive clinical data including demographic information, disease history, and ICU treatment details. Multiple validated assessment tools will be used to measure physical strength, mobility, cognitive function, psychological health, and quality of life. Data will be gathered within 24 hours of admission to the HDU or just before ICU discharge, and assessments include tools such as the MRC score, ICU Mobility Scale, Mini-Mental State Examination, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and others. During the study, participants will undergo thorough evaluations of their physical, cognitive, and psychological status using standardized questionnaires and functional tests. Researchers will collect and analyze information on muscle strength, mobility, mental health, sleep quality, pain severity, and family caregiver anxiety and depression. The primary outcomes focus on the incidence and comorbidity patterns of PICS, while also exploring functional status, quality of life, and risk factors. The study will follow participants from admission to the HDU, with data collection spanning until the study completion in 2027, providing valuable insight into the impact of PICS on survivors of critical illness.
